Walk Well in Taunton is supported by Tone Leisure in partnership with Taunton Deane Borough Council, to encourage local people to become more active, more often.
The programme is designed to be an excellent way of improving your health through regular walking in the local community.
Our walks
The scheme has recently expanded, providing three different types of walk for varying levels of stamina. The shortest walks are between 20 and 30 minutes, approx. 1.5 miles in length and are aimed at those people who are new to walking and want to be more active in the company of other people.
We also have walks that take between 40 and 60 minutes and 2-3 miles in length.
Both of the above options take place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:15.
For those who already have a good level of cardiovascular fitness, there are longer walks of 2 - 2.5 hours and approx. 5 - 6 miles in length. The meeting places for these walks are either in Taunton or with 10 miles of the town. During the summer these walks are at 5:15pm once a month on a Monday. At all other times of the year they are at 10:15am once a month on Mondays.
All walks meet at various meeting points in Taunton. They are graded in terms of difficultly and accesibility. Some walks are suitable for baby-buggies and some are accessible. Many of the walks start and finish near a cafe where walkers usually go for refreshment afterwards.
Please contact the Co-ordinator for details of the current programme or download it from this page.
