Teesdale has some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain, as well as a
intriguing historical heritage which you are able to explore along the walks.
Each walk in Teesdale will be guided by a team of enthusiastic, friendly fully qualified walk leaders, to help you explore the fantastic countryside.
We have walks to suit everyone, from short, easy walks for beginners and all ability access (wheel chair / push chair friendly) to those which offer more of a challenge.
Everyone is welcome and you are sure to make a new friend.
We have two types of walks in Teesdale:-
Health Walks
All walks start at 1pm every Wednesday starting 5th May 2010 to 29th September 2010.
There will be a mini bus provided for those who wish to travel from Barnard Castle (Teesdale leisure Centre) to the start of the walk routes.

Teesdale Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking is a fast growing fitness activity, and is ideal for a wide range of people including GP Referrals, Cardiac Rehabilitation programmes as well as anyone wishing to increase their fitness levels.
The walk is lead by a qualified GP Referral instructor and starts at Teesdale Leisure Centre 1pm – 2pm every Friday until the last week in July.
There is a small charge of £2.20 per session.
Poles will be provided but please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Walk Grading
All Ability - The walk is on surfaced paths or pavements suitable for wheel chair and push chair users.
Easy - A country walk suitable for most levels of fitness with smooth paths which are relatively flat. Possibly a few stiles.
Moderate - Country walk suitable for most levels of fitness. Must be comfortable walking in undulating landscapes. There may be a few stiles.
Hard - Requires a good level of fitness. The walk may have some steep strenuous climbs and may be rough underfoot. Boots are essential.

Easy Route – 3.2 miles
All Ability Route – 2.9 miles
