This 'Walking for Health' scheme has been developed by Lincolnshire Public Health, in partnership the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and South Kesteven District Council.

Walk4life South Kesteven Health Walks offers a programme of led health walks in and around the five main towns of Bourne, Grantham, Sleaford, Stamford and the Deepings.

Our walks

Walks vary from in-town pavement walks in Grantham and Market Deeping to walking across farmland at Carlton Scroop.

A copy of the current walks programme is available by post from the Health Walks Officer or online. For more details on the current led walks in and around Bourne, Grantham, The Deepings, Sleaford and Stamford, please scroll down and see below.

The walks are free and vary in length from less than 1 mile up to 4-5 miles. The groups vary in size from less than 10 to more than 30, with new walkers always very welcome. The groups are very sociable and there is always the opportunity to stop for refreshments after the walk.

Suitable for everyone
These walks provide a fun way to improve fitness and feel healthier, supported by trained leaders. You might not walk very much at the moment and this could be for lots of reasons. Some people feel they are not safe walking alone, either due to poor health or low confidence. Maybe you have no-one to walk with or simply don't know where to walk.

These walks are suitable for those with heart problems or diabetes, plus those who would enjoy the companionship of other walkers. On the day, there will be an option for a shorter route, depending on the demand and ability of the walkers present. Everybody is very welcome.

Walk leaders
The majority of groups rely on the commitment of trained volunteer walk leaders. If you would like to be involved in planning and supporting the walks and to train as a volunteer walk leader, please contact the Health Improvement Practitioner for further details. Walks Leaders must be aged over 18.
