Get Moving for mental health Walking for Health schemes all over the country took part in this year's ‘Get Moving’ week. Walking was just one of the week's activities which were designed to promote the benefits of being active for mental wellbeing. It has been shown that it is through social contact - when people with and without experience of mental distress come together - that people can get to know one another and the stigma around mental health problems can be broken down. Health walks are one excellent way to make this social contact possible. In addition, walking itself and enjoying the outdoors promotes mental wellbeing and reduces stress. More »
